Comprising of 700 spectacular pieces from around the world, the exhibition explores the importance of jewellery in defining personal style and tracing milestone moments in a woman’s lifetime.

A fashion and jewellery-lovers utopia, highlight pieces include the sparkling neckpiece worn by Nicole Kidman in Moulin Rouge, a stunning diamond brooch worn by Cate Blanchett to the Oscars and a star-studded ring from the personal collection of fashion designer Catherine Martin.

Countless pieces in the exhibition have never previously been placed on public display, with styles spanning from classical Rome and Ancient Egypt, to the decadence of Art Nouveau and the 21st century. The pieces provide insight into the historical moments of time and place, showcasing jewels of desire to address the key theme of ‘our place in time’.

Curated by Eva Czernis-Ryl, the remarkable selection of jewellery includes Egyptian amulets and heart scarabs, unique Victorian mourning jewellery and an ornate Napoleon Bonaparte ring carved in onyx by Italy’s Antonio Santorelli. The exhibition is broken up into nine key themes; Belief & Magic, Love & Death, Nature & Culture, Style & Revival, Gold & Identity, Status & Wealth, Men & Adornment, Modernity & Change and Contemporary & Expressive, and showcases why the appeal of jewellery really does remain timeless and universal.
